Books Are Actually ADHD As Hell
Highlights from "The Codex Is Always On Crip Time" by Laura Basten
In the theme of thoughtful revision, which I’m starting to think is much preferable in the beginning of a new year than unrealistic resolution, I’ve been wanting to go back to a good idea that I sort of abandoned for a while — this critical ADHD reading list I threw together years ago, before this newsletter even existed.
Looking back over it after a couple years of reading even more deeply and widely about this, I am honestly cringing! My thinking has expanded and developed so much since then and this list needs a major overhaul, but trying to do it all at once feels too stressful. I want to see if I can use the newsletter form to slowly make it into more than just a reading list over time. An interactive archive, maybe? Another version of an infograzer club? A digital codex? (I literally just learned what that word means??)
For paid subscribers, I’m going to start posting regular summaries and highlights of readings that I think make a good addition to the hypothetical field of critical ADHD studies that I would like academia to invent soon, please.1 If you come across any that you think would be good for this project, drop it in a comment or respond to one of these emails, I always love reading suggestions!
